I have been a fan of Nalgene Water Bottles for many years now.  They are an excellent brand because of their great quality and durability.  In this Nalgene Water Bottle Review, I cover why you should buy one, who this is for, the features, pros and cons, where to buy and the price.

Why Buy a Nalgene Water Bottle?

This Nalgene water bottle is exceptional for your outdoor trips and hikes. I use this bottle in addition to my Hydro pack when I go hiking.  I drink from the hydro hose while hiking and then on breaks I drink from the bottle (water of course).  😛

They make the Nalgene Water bottles in the States- another great reason to buy this brand. I always like supporting manufacturing in the USA. Also, more recently they started making the bottles from 50% certified recycled material from waste with Tritan Renew.

I love the large mouth because it’s easier to pour water into it.  In addition to taking on hikes, I use this bottle in my every day life.  It’s like my comfy water bottle.  Makes me feel happy and warm and fuzzy all over that I’m doing my part to limit waste from the single use plastic water bottles. Also, If you place the lid on tight and turn it over it fits nice and snug in your cup holder so you can take it with you everywhere you go.

In addition to the portability, this water bottle withstands being dropped and knocked around.  I’ve dropped mine on more than one occasion. However, a few scratches and dirt on it makes you look like a pro.

Who Can Use This Nalgene Water Bottle?

Anyone that drinks water can use this bottle.  Yes, it’s great for hiking and other outdoor sports of course, but it’s designed to hold water for any occasion. For those who like to repair, reuse, and recycle and do their part, a Nalgene Water Bottle makes that job easier.

It is lightweight enough that it’s even comfortable for kids to carry.  If  you’re going for a walk around the park you can clip the bottle to a carabiner and hang off a belt loop even.

The Good and Not So Good

Like any fair review, you must cover the good, bad, and the ugly.  Not sure we’ll get into the ugly, but I’ll be a straight shooter.

Why Will You Love This Water Bottle?

PRO#1– Leakproof lid. Even when you tip the bottle upside down there is not one drop that spills out.

PRO#2– Durability. This bottle is almost indestructible. I dropped my Nalgene Water Bottle on the ground and it did not even get a scratch.

PRO#3– Lightweight and portable. This water bottle is easy to carry in or on your pack.

PRO#4– Easy drinkability. The wide mouth makes it convenient to drink from.  The wide mouth can be paired with certain water filters for convenience and efficiency. If you do prefer a smaller opening to drink from, here are some options for personalized mouth guards.

What You May Not Love

CON#1– The Nalgene Water Bottle might develop a bad odor around the lid threads. However, as long as you use wash the water bottle frequently and don’t leave water in it for extended amounts of time you should be fine.

CON #2 – Due to the hard material, it does not fold, scrunch, or pack down into a teeny tiny size when you’re done.

CON#3– Does not have a squeeze top.  This means I don’t take my Nalgene water bottle with me Mountain biking because I can’t drink from it with my helmet on.

My Final Opinion of The Nalgene Water Bottle

This is my all time favorite water bottle out of the 5,989 different ones out there.  Nalgene makes a water bottle that will last you for life and will become one of your favorite items in hiking gear collection.  You won’t ever lose the lid, you’ll do your part to keep plastic out of the oceans, and you’ll stay hydrated from a bottle that is made in the USA.
