Ever since I can remember, I’ve been wearing Columbia Hiking Pants. The brand Columbia in general is known for their excellent quality.
This review is specifically for those Columbia Hiking Pants that are convertible & comfortable. They have distinct features and made with the most durable materials that will last a long time.
The following are 3 Columbia Hiking Pants you should consider buying (for both men & women)- which are Convertible & Comfortable.

Columbia Men’s Silver Ridge Convertible Pants
These Columbia Men’s Convertible hiking pants are made with 100% Nylon. There are definite benefits to hiking pants that are made with this material. They are lightweight- (less than a cotton pair of shorts). On your longer hikes, the weight savings allows for more comfort. This results in a more enjoyable hiking experience. Nylon is also stain resistant. This is a huge plus because you don’t want your pants to get stained with dirt and grime after you hike through mud and scramble up the trail.
Features:
- Has Signature UPF 50 Fabric protection against harmful UVA rays.
- Breathable, wicking fabric pulls moisture away to keep you cool and dry. Drys quickly if the material gets wet.
- Security pocket, side pockets, with hook and loop closure, and mesh pockets.
- Partial elastic waist to accommodate the extra belly fat.
- Zip off legs! Easy to zip back on.
- Over 25 colors are available.
- 7 Day try on available for select sizes and colors/ Free Shipping and Return.
Columbia Women’s Saturday Trail II Convertible Pant
One name, but several different styles available. There are just a couple of differences depending on the color you get. For instance, the Stone Green pair comes with a cinch at the bottom of the pants if you prefer the more skinny look.
These convertible pants look amazing as shorts! The cuff sits below your thigh so you won’t be wearing Daisy Dukes. If you prefer that look- then you’re out of luck on these! ?
These women’s convertible hiking pants are also very comfortable. The elastic waist made with elastane 2 way stretch fabric allows for free movement. This material feels great against the skin and it’s not too tight.
Features:
- Omni-Shield: keeps the dirt away. Which is a great feature so your pants remain looking great. Omni Shield repels moisture and dries quickly.
- UPF 50- Protect against UV rays.
- Comfortable- elastic waist- movement does not feel stifled, made with nylon and elastane 2 way stretch fabric. This material feels great against the skin- not too tight. Your legs can breathe.
- Cute little back pockets w/Velcro- makes your butt look good.
- Available in over 10 colors
- Two side pockets with hook and loop closure
- Zip closed security pocket.
- Convertible- Zip off legs.
- Articulated knees (This is related to the fit and fabric- makes bending more comfortable)
Columbia Women’s Silver Ridge 2.0 Convertible Pant
These are 2.0, but according to the reviews, these Women’s Silver Ridge Convertible Hiking pants still have room for improvement. These pants have 4 out of 5 stars with over 51% giving a 5 star rating. The difference I see on these pants is that they have zippered pants legs for when you take them off they can slip off over your hiking boot or shoe.
This is a great feature because it can be a pain to take your hiking boots off on the trail. These pants are also available in short and long. Which is great if you’re tall- and typically have trouble finding pants that don’t look like you’re ready to wade water.
As you can see, these pants have similar features to the other two:
- Button Closure
- Belt Loops (does not come with the belt)
- Interior adjustable waist band
- Omni-Shield/UPF 50 Sun Protection (I am starting to get white spots on my legs from the sun so I love this feature!!)
- Two side pockets
- Two back pockets
- Convertible- Zip off legs.
- Articulated knees (This is related to the fit and fabric- makes bending more comfortable)
Top 3 Columbia Hiking Pants
In summary, the three best Columbia Convertible Hiking pants are: Columbia Men’s Silver Ridge Convertible Pants, Columbia Women’s Saturday Trail II Convertible Pant and Columbia Women’s Silver Ridge 2.0 Convertible Pant. They are all made with durable, wicking, stretchy, and stain resistant material. The UPF 50 factor protects your legs from the sun’s rays. The fabric is thin enough for breathability but thick enough for protection. There are plenty of pockets for your phone, trail mix or small items such as a whistle or compass.
